Position Summary
The Accounting Specialist supports daily accounting operations by maintaining accurate financial records and helping ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills, advanced Excel knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Please note: This is a Hybrid position, working some days from our West Creek office location and some days working from home in the Richmond, VA area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Process daily payments and ensure timely, accurate recording of transactions.
- Prepare and post journal entries and other accounting transactions.
- Manage unclaimed property reporting and related compliance requirements.
- Prepare and file sales and use tax returns.
- Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, and depreciation tracking.
- Perform banking activities, including account reconciliations and transaction reviews.
- Review and monitor corporate credit card activity for accuracy and policy compliance.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and transaction issues.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close.
- Support audits and provide documentation as needed.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work experience.
- Accounting experience required; experience in a multi-entity environment is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
