JOB TITLE: Brokerage Program Director (Brokerage)
REPORTS TO: Executive VP and General Manager of the VFB Mutual Insurance Company and Affiliates
DEPARTMENT: Insurance Agency Services
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing high quality service and support for our VA Farm Bureau Agents and our members by providing capacity and competitive products from our insurance carrier partners. Identify and onboard reputable insurance carriers that serve as an alternative partner to VA Farm Bureau Agents in placing profitable insurance business while adhering to all VAFB guidelines, business practices and regulations. Other duties include directing and leading the IAS team & business processes, ensuring acceptable service levels to our field offices for business that is placed with IAS; and maintaining collaborative relationships with the Sales and Marketing team and across other departments.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Identify and develop alternative carrier and broker partner relationships to fulfill needs of VAFB agents and our members
- Partner with EVP & General Manager of the Mutual Insurance Company and VAFB Legal to negotiate contracts with current & future brokerage partners
- Partner with VAFB agents and mutual insurance leadership to identify and deliver appropriate product and coverage solutions for our members
- Manage IAS operations to achieve sales, service and profit targets
- Maintain satisfactory expense control within confines of assigned budget
- Ensure timely and accurate commission payments to VAFB agents
- Improve overall job knowledge by participating in all designated company meetings and functions
- Oversee overall staffing, hiring, training, employee development
- Determine and enforce processes, procedures and controls to fulfill the department's goals. This would include, but not be limited to, partnering with Accounting to ensure that brokerage company related premium payments (both incoming & outgoing) with the fiduciary account are both timely and accurate.
- Assist in retention and growth of VAFB Federation membership goals
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Assist in training and marketing broker partners’ product offerings
- Maintain good working relationships with other VAFB departments
- Keep the accountable executive well-informed of challenges and opportunities.
- Perform any other duties as deemed necessary to achieve company goals and objectives in accordance with company guidelines
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5 years in the insurance industry with either a wholesaler or brokerage operation
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience
- At least one insurance industry professional designation: CPCU, AFIS, AAI, etc. currently with emphasis on Agriculture and Commercial insurance designations.
- Must currently hold a VA P&C producer License and must maintain that license
- General knowledge of selling techniques

- Ability to meet travel requirements of this job. This would include but not be limited to attending various conferences (Big I, Flood, vendor partners) and intrastate travel to Agent Field offices in Virginia.
- Must have in-depth working knowledge of industry rating systems for both personal lines and commercial
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with either a wholesaler or brokerage operation
- Management experience working for an E&S Broker or similar type of insurance entity
- In depth working knowledge of Agency Management System
- Experience with Nexsure experience
- Previous brokerage sales experience
- Multiple insurance industry professional designations
- Experience with Association P&C insurance programs
- Experience with bonds
