POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for underwriting insurance risks to meet company strategic goals.
LOCATION
This position is based out of our beautiful West Creek Office, located at 12580 West Creek Parkway, Richmond, VA 23238.
POSITION
Full time (37.5 hours per week) – Salaried Position with Benefits
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm, Hybrid work schedule is offered, after a period of in office training.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Accept, modify, or reject risks according to assigned authority limits.
- Evaluate accounts for continued acceptability.
- Review contracts and requests for coverage changes.
- Communicate decisions to Agents.
- Monitor assigned book of business and report positive and negative trends to manager.
- Review new business and changes to existing business.
- Assist Agents and Claims with coverage questions.
- Review claim files
- Communicate by phone or in writing with company agents and policy holders
- Actively support and encourage the achievement of company profitability, growth and retention goals.
- Promote strong relationships with the agency force through education, technical assistance and superior service.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Agent/ Agency visitations
- Review underwriting information sources: MVRs, CLUE, Inspection reports, internet, etc.
- Maintain a high degree of expertise in all Personal Lines of business
- All other duties assigned by Manager and/or Vice President
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 3 years Property & Casualty experience

- Prior underwriting experience
- Insurance course work and related designations (CPCU, CIC, AINS, AIS, etc.)
- Effective presentation skills
- Computer literate with proficiency in ImageRight, FINYS, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
