The Meadow Event Park has an excellent Seasonal Opportunity. The State Fair of Virginia is seeking an individual who is creative and passionate about youth, arts, and all things fair to support our Youth Creative Arts and Youth Culinary Arts programs to help them grow!

The ideal candidate would work with The Manager of Agriculture Education and Strategic Partnerships and other superintendents to help create an engaging youth creative and/or youth culinary arts competition experience and competitive exhibits display in the Farm Bureau Center for the public. This is a Seasonal Contract Position; laptop is provided for all duty functions. Seasonal employee will also receive a fair package including meal vouchers for the fair and guest tickets.

Hours: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm, this position is a Seasonal Opportunity from August through October and does require flexible hours to work some evenings and weekends, prior to, during, and after the State Fair,

With the support of the Manager of Ag Education and other arts superintendents, Responsibilities are to:

• Work with Manager of Ag Education to make annual edits to the Competition Guides in your area and add relevant competitions and opportunities
• Manage youth competition set-up, arrival of entries, judging of contests, and take out of entries
• Communicate with and answering questions of competitors and schools
• Help schedule and coordinate interesting and related demonstrations in your area
• Use the Showorks Competition Software to help manage entries, entry tags and judges books (instructions and support provided)
• Offer new and creative ideas for partnerships and fairgoer engagement opportunities
• Help schedule volunteers and workers for area during fair, for setup, and for take down
• Coordinate with other superintendents to ensure one lead representative is on site at all times during the duration of the fair while the building is open.

Summertime hours are flexible with a regular check-in with the Manager of Agriculture Education. As the fair approaches, superintendents will need to be on site more often with on-site needs in September for set-up and the fair.
