At Virginia Farm Bureau, we see graphic design as visual storytelling that engages, informs, and inspires. We are looking for a highly creative full-time graphic design manager who can take conceptual ideas and create visual representations, both in print and digital media. Our ideal candidate will have a thorough command of print publication and editorial design, branding, and marketing, with the ability to vary style and layouts depending on the project and audience. The candidate will have extensive knowledge of offset and digital printing, InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator, and be skilled with every step of the design process from concept to the final deliverable. Collaborating with multiple teams at our company, the graphic design manager will be able to take concepts and convert them into a design that connects. Agricultural experience is a plus but not a prerequisite.

Primary Duties

• Responsible for design and layout of Virginia Farm Bureau News and Cultivate magazines
• Work with editor and writing/photography team with the planning and organizing of the Farm Bureau News and Cultivate magazines
• Collaborate with Farm Bureau departments and programs to determine graphic design projects
• Develop concept and design for logos, brochures, banners, display materials and various other projects
• Develop and maintain a professional, creative team
• Coach team in the successful execution of their responsibilities and goals
• Examine existing processes, identifying gaps and creating solutions to improve design capabilities
• Retouch and edit photos
• Review and approve final designs, ensuring they meet brand guidelines and project specifications
• Monitor the printing quality of all publications

Additional Duties

• Occasional travel required
• All other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Communications

Minimum Education/Experience

• Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field
• Proven experience (7+ years) in graphic design roles, preferably in a managerial or leadership position
• Extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, especially InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
• Experience working collaboratively with writers, photographers, printers, videographers
• Knowledge of current design trends and best practices in the industry
• Portfolio showcasing a variety of design projects, demonstrating technical skills and creativity
• Thorough knowledge of offset and digital printing
