PLEASE NOTE: This position will work Monday through Thursday, 7.5 hours per day, starting at 6:30am each day. In the office on Monday's and Wednesday's. Work From Home on Tuesday's and Thursday's.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accounts Payable Associate position provides coding, processing and administration of all payables and disbursements ensuring compliance with approval requirements, accurate recording of transactions and allocations. Assist with corporate compliance with various state sales and use tax laws (primarily Virginia) and 1099 reporting requirements.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Review invoices and expense vouchers for proper coding and approvals.
- Process all invoices and expense vouchers on a timely basis through the accounting system (NetSuite).
- Assist with allocating all accounts payable transactions either through processing or subsequent journal entries as needed.
- Review and approve vouchers keyed in accounting software by others.
- Maintain vendor files.
- Responsible for 1099 information to include review of 1099 information entered and cleaning up 1099 vendors quarterly
- Respond to accounts payable questions from internal and external customers, including outstanding balances, payments discrepancies, and invoice reconciliation.
- Ensure compliance with state sales and use tax laws (primarily Virginia) on invoices and expense vouchers submitted for payment.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- All other duties as assigned by Accounts Payable Supervisor.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting.
MINIMUM SKILL QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to prepare and properly code accounts payable transactions.
- Good understanding of accounting principles.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Computer skills with Microsoft Office applications, including high proficiency in Excel; experience working with an ERP system is highly desirable
- Good keyboard skills with emphasis on speed and accuracy
- Proficient math and analytical skills.
- Ability to logically solve problems.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skills (prioritize, multi-task, and able to meet strict deadlines).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience with accounts payable processing.
- Previous experience with Accounting software
